2008s Quantum of Solace will be the 22nd film based on Ian Fleming's James Bond character. The film stars Daniel Craig playing James Bond for the second time. Daniel Craig was a major success as James Bond in his first, the remade Casino Royale (originally starring David Niven).
Directed by Marc Forster and written for the screen by Robert Wade, Paul Haggis and Neal Purvis. Barbara Broccoli has been involved with the James Bond film phenomenon and is the daughter of the legendary Albert R. Broccoli (Cubby). She is to produce the 23rd James Bond film scheduled for 2010.
Dame Judi Dench continues in her role as 'M', a part she is making her own. Quantum of Solace sees an appearance by the gorgeous Oona Chaplin, granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin playing a hotel receptionist.
Bond's mission in Quantum of Solace takes him Austria, Italy and South America. In a story of betrayal, love and espionage Bond discovers a conspiracy to take control of one of the world's natural resources by Dominic Greene, a ruthless businessman who teams up with an exiled General and promises to overthrow the regime of a Latin American country, giving control to the General for a seemingly barren piece of land.
The theme tune for Quantum of Solace was being recorded by Amy Winehouse. According to the New Musical Express she and Mark Ronson who was producing, fell out during recording, and their joint-project has now been shelved. Sources told The Sun newspaper that their falling out was due to Winehouse's increasingly erratic behaviour.
The track was being recorded in April at Mark Ronson's studio in Henley, Oxfordshire. Ronson is quoted by the paper as saying "We did work on it but we never finished it. I don't think it will happen unless by some miracle it gets recorded and someone sings on it. I'm not sure Amy is ready to work on music yet."
A spokesman for Amy Winehouse however said "Mark presented a track to Amy, but she had other ideas about the direction it should take. We're sure they will continue to make great music together."
Quantum of Solace will be at cinemas in the Autumn with or without an Amy Winehouse theme tune!
